Music and Family ft. My Dad!!!

Hello friends!

For this blog, I interviewed my father, Greg Farmer, about his connection and experience with music. For those of you who might have read my more recent vlogs, you’ll know my dad is a Bluegrass musician and multi-instrumentalist. In this interview, I asked him a lot of questions that pertained to his relationship with music, especially as he is a musician and I knew his perspective would be different. He told a lot of stories (stories I had forgotten about!) and he gave a lot of really good advice about things he had learned over the years.

I hope you all enjoy!

  1. Allana - this was really cute seeing how you guys respond to each other. The video itself also looks, sounds and feels very professional so amazing job there. It's nice to hear the informal side of musical practice. As a classical musician I sometimes forget that for some people they learn music only this way. Its very interesting to hear about it! Thanks for sharing this and please let Mr. Farmer know that I appreciated his advice!

  3. I figured you would interview your dad, and I love that he plays so many instruments. I didn’t know a ton about your dad, but I’m really happy I got to haer more about his life with music. I didn’t know that he learned informally, but it makes sense with his style of music.

  4. This video is really well done and seeing you and your dad was very wholesome. I loved his stories. I especially thought it was cool how he learned bluegrass through lessons, but also just by watching and listening. It's a lot different than how we learn classical music.
